The 5-star SPA-HOTEL Jagdhof in Neustift in the Tyrolean Stubai Valley is offering an exclusive new fun-dining experience. After welcoming you at reception with a glass of mulled wine, non-alcoholic punch or Alpine aperitif, we accompany you to the barn where our Stadel host will be waiting. We’ll explain how the special culinary experience works and then the meal starts with a hearty Stadel platter of cold delights – all supplied by our favourite butcher and the Stubai dairy. After that, we serve the soup of the day and a large bowl of mixed salad. And finally, you get to cook your own – but we’ll be there to help.
A slightly different gastronomic event
The ‘hot hat’ or Tatarenhut is a cross between a Chinese hotpot and a tabletop grill and derives its name from its shape which is similar to a ‘Tatar’s hat’. The device is heated with charcoal and its ‘brim’ filled with broth, which means that all the goodness from the food being barbecued on the steel cone above it drips into the broth, making it lusher and tastier as the evening wears on. Everyone gets to cook whatever they like from a fine selection of meats – beef, veal, poultry and pork – as well as various vegetables. Plus, there’s a delicious salad. Simply place the pieces of meat onto the cone’s steel tips and wait. You can use the broth in the ‘brim’ for basting or simply enjoy it as part of the meal after it has been enriched by the cooking meats. It’s fun, it’s a brilliant conversation starter and it’s delicious: an evening of culinary delight in our Stadel barn!
To complete your unique dining experience in the rustic Stadel restaurant we serve home-made sauces, crouton sticks and garlic bread. For dessert, enjoy an apple crumble with home-made buttermilk ice cream (serves two) or baked Camembert with cranberries and croutons for dipping.
