Ski Touring

The No. 1 Trend Sport

It’s a beautiful winter’s day, the sky is blue, the sun is shining, and fresh snow covers the land as you savour the physical effort of an uphill ski tour. You feel it, that pleasant burn in every muscle reminding you you’ve achieved something good, and then … whoosh! The thrill of the descent takes over as you zip down the slopes, across fresh powdery snow. On a pair of touring skis, the range of exciting mountain experiences you can have on your winter holiday opens up before you. Safe choices are provided by the pristinely prepared pistes on the Stubai Glacier, Serlesbahnen Mieders or Elferbahnen. Alternatively, the guided option for experienced ski tourers leaves from  the 2,247m-high Franz-Senn-Hütte – the area’s best ski touring base – and ascends to the summits of the Stubai Alps. There’s something for everyone, complete beginners and seasoned ski tourers alike!

Tobogganing

A Winter Sledging Holiday

Whether you walk up to the Elfer, take the cable car or go by toboggan taxi – you can look forward to zipping down the 8km-long natural toboggan run, one of Tyrol’s longest, right into the village centre of Neustift. Embrace a winter holiday in Stubai with all your senses. Fun for all the family in the fresh mountain air, what else do you need? The Stubai Valley boasts ten natural toboggan runs spanning a total length of 41km, which were awarded the Tiroler Naturrodelbahn seal of excellence. Not only does this make our region the top tobogganing arena in Tyrol, but also one of the most varied. Night tobogganing is a particularly fun activity, which you can pursue on four lit runs here in the Stubai Valley.

Tobogganing Tip

Why not hire an excellently maintained toboggan either from one of the sports shops, the cable car company or the huts at the top of the toboggan runs? We’d be delighted to set this up for you.

Ice Skating

Cool Runnings

Whether you’re zooming across the crystal clear ice, performing perfect pirouettes, skating backwards or charging after that plastic puck … balance, elegance, power and stamina are all synonymous with ice skating. It’s fun and suitable for young and old alike and, let’s face it, almost unavoidable on a Tyrolean winter holiday. If you would like to have a go, Neustift’s ice rink isn’t far from our Relais & Châteaux SPA-Hotel Jagdhof. If the weather’s not playing ball, simply switch to the covered artificial ice arena in Fulpmes. When the weather conditions are right, though, the two natural ice rinks in Schönberg and Mieders are perfect for those pirouettes you can’t wait to get out of your system!
